Natural gas latest consumer headache
The prices in April are about $1 per therm or more. Here’s one take on why the price is going through the roof, even as we leave the winter heating season. One interesting item:
Coal shortages at many American utilities like Exelon Corp (EXC), Ameren (AEE), Dynergy Inc (DYN) and PPL Corp (PPL) will force them to run gas plants to preserve coal stockpiles for the summer, even if it’s more costly to do so.
Of course, the article doesn’t even mention the possibility of manipulation of the natural gas market or the need for sensible regulation of the gas market. We regulate pork bellies better than we do such a necessity as natural gas. gas engines

Gasoline Prices Could Drop 50¢/Gallon by Spring: AAA
NEW YORK (Reuters) - U.S. drivers could enjoy a drop of up to 50 cents per gallon in gasoline prices by this spring as high fuel prices and the threat of a recession force them to conserve, experts said on Wednesday.
U.S. gasoline supplies hit a near-14-year high of 227.5 million barrels last week, helped by […]

RBS urged to pull Gazprom’s Sakhalin II loan
RUSSIA: Nineteen local and international environmental organizations have called on Sir Fred Goodwin, CEO of Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS), to recall a controversial US$1 billion loan by ABN AMRO for the Russian energy giant Gazprom’s purchase of a controlling share of the enormous Sakhalin II oil and gas project in Russia.
Sakhalin II has caused many severe environmental problems and violates the Equator Principles, to which RBS has signed, claim the Pacific Environment organisation. The groups have also requested to meet with Goodwin. RBS leads a consortium of banks that purchased ABN AMRO in 2007.
Environmental groups claim they have opposed ABN AMRO financing for Sakhalin II because the project threatens the Western Gray Whale with extinction, damages hundreds of wild salmon runs, and negatively impacts local communities.
“When RBS bought ABN AMRO, it acquired the bank’s assets and liabilities, including financial and reputational, and thus the responsibility to address the wrongful financing of Sakhalin II,” said Dmitry Lisitsyn, chairman, Sakhalin Environment Watch.
Environmental groups and independent consultants of potential lenders, including the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) have for many years documented Sakhalin II’s severe, chronic and irreversible violations of bank environmental policies.
For private banks, this includes the Equator Principles on environmental performance, which both RBS and ABN AMRO have committed to follow. EBRD eventually withdrew its consideration of Sakhalin II while many other banks suspended consideration of the project due to environmental problems.
“At the 2005 ABN AMRO Annual Meeting, Chief Executive Officer Rijkman Groenink committed to not finance Sakhalin II until it was brought into compliance with the Equator Principles,” said Paul de Clerck of Friends of the Earth International, who was at the 2005 ABN AMRO Annual Meeting where the commitment was made.
“So, it came as a complete shock when the bank circumvented the Principles by financing Sakhalin II through one of the project sponsors. RBS must now take responsibility to correct this damage.”
“The buck now stops at RBS,” said Doug Norlen, policy director, Pacific Environment.

Giuliani and McCain say no to GHG cap
Rudy Giuliani and John McCain both agreed setting mandatory caps on greenhouse gas emissions would have a stifling effect on the economy. While McCain suggested a “cap and trade” system that wouldn’t necessarily decrease CO2 emissions, both candidates pledged to expand the use of nuclear energy at Thursday night’s Republican debate.
Giuliani: “We haven’t licensed a nuclear power plant in 30 years. France is 80 percent nuclear; we’re 20 percent nuclear; we’re going down to 15 percent nuclear. We have to crack through there.”
McCain: “I am confident American technology and the embrace of green technologies, many of the things that Rudy just talked about, and nuclear power being one of them, we can reduce these greenhouse gas emissions.”
Giuliani said he also supports clean coal technology such as carbon sequestration, as well as a cocktail of other alternative energy technologies like wind, hydro, biofuels, and hybrid vehicles. McCain emphasized the importance of making global energy agreements with rapidly developing countries like China and India. Read why the group Climate Progress calls McCain’s promises “double-talk.”

Best Arguments For Switching From Gas To Hydrogen Powered Cars
There is soooo much information online about fuel saving pills, and all sorts of squirrely solutions for increasing your car’s fuel consumption but there is really only one total solution. And that is to switch completely from fuel to hydrogen and never have to pay for a gallon of fuel into your car again! Of course one can also set up a hybrid system of fuel with hydrogen. But why go only half way down why just settle for a field goal when you can score the winning touchdown? ?
The way that water4gas readers are taught to set up a fuel system based on hydrogen generated through agitation of water is a completely clean technology. There are no environmental contaminants , no oil tanker spills and such with hydrogen.
There are no greenhouse fuel emissions either. Because it is a perfect ecological system. The hydrogen emanates from the agitated water and then recombines with oxygen to create water all within the system! Nothing comes in, nothing leaves. It is the Hotel California of automotive fuel systems.
Another important advantage in this crazy world we live in, it helps make America stronger by eliminating the need for foreign oil from the Middle East and other not so friendly places.
It can be produced at home for free . This is what makes the oil companies afraid . Good! They should be very afraid! Muwahahahaha! They have had their game and they lost it . Hydrogen fuel systems put fuel production into the basements of America. It is just so easy!!
The answer to the world’s energy concerns is hydrogen . And it is happening right now and can find its next home in your auto ’s fuel system !
Hundreds and thousands of people are switching from gas to hydrogen systems continuously with just a small bit of study and for less than $120 . People it is here, it is easy!It is that easy to do. You can do it. And it is very liberating in multiple ways including those listed above.

Solution To High Gas Prices Hiding In An Obvious Place
70% of the surface of the Earth is water.
Naturally then man, in his superior genius, digs deep into the Earth to hopefully locate and extract the cruddy remains of dead dinosaurs in order to operate their death machines and suicide mobiles. And then we kill each other because of these fossils when there are billions of barrels untouched.
But how come we couldn’t see fuel in the most obvious place?
If we could run vehicles using water, ah… life on this planet would sure be different!
To which you respond “right! And if dirt were dollars I wouldn’t worry no more”
Ok, put down the sarcasm for a moment.
The most plentiful substance on God’s green Earth is simple H20. And it makes the best fuel that there is for your car. In fact it will run it cooler, cheaper, more efficiently and cleaner and better for the environment than Barney’s bones will!
Why?
Well it isn’t so much the O as it is the H2!
That is to say, hydrogen!
Hydrogen makes an excellent fuel! A car converted to hydrogen from gasoline means that you never again have to pay for fuel! Hydrogen has no emissions and is better for the environment! Hydrogen helps your engine to run cool! And it won’t cost you nothin’ to get Hydrogen to run your car with! Although, distilled water is cleaner and better so that might cost a tiny bit but really nothing compared to what you pay for gasoline.
Do a little bit of study, decide the oil robber barons will not get the best of you and to help the environment, spend a few dollars for some basic hardware parts and you can have your car engine converted fully to hydrogen or as a gasoline hydrogen hybrid in about one hour’s time.
And your car will love you for it!

The heatwave in Europe knocked of harvests in many Carbonic acid
Global warming is a bit like putting on weight. Ignore the trashheap of past cooling soon claims that never Photo of the thyroid gland. Allow our politicians to pontificate with every scientifically illiterate bone in their collective body. Global warming will officially come to an end on January, when this decadal average will no longer be propped up by the temperature spike from the el Nino, and the IPCC will be forced to admit that the drop in global temperature on their own manipulated statistical representation signals the official end of global warming. Which will go down as the biggest hoax in history WMD or GW Hmmm. Sadly there is sometimes a tendency that when we see other people enjoying themselves we want to stop them.
New York Looks to Old Natural Gas Wells for Sequestration
the auspices of a new $4 million, 3-year program organized by New York’s Energy Research and Development Authority and several energy companies, geologists from the State Museum will spend the upcoming summer studying old natural gas wells and other features in the Southern Tier and in western N.Y. as potential sites for carbon sequestration. The energy companies - which include AES Eastern Energy and Nornew - will contribute $2.3 million towards the effort. The geologists will study sandstone, limestone and shale formations, which provide the best storage potential for carbon dioxide, using seismic equipment; their target will …

Egdon gives clue to Encore value?
Today saw Egdon Resources spin off its gas storage business into a new company called Portland Gas. It started out with a valuation of 245p per share and climbed a little by the close of play.
So can we use this valuation to get a ballpark figure for Encores gas storage business?
There are 67,801,840 shares in Portland so at 245p per share this gives a market cap of 166m. Portland have a storage capacity of 35bcf while Encore have a half share in a project with around four times this capacity, so the valuation should be around double which gives us 332m. Encore have 306,174,175 shares in circulation so that gives us a share price of 108p. The current Encore share price is 46.75p.
Now of course its hard to compare the assets of the two companies and I don’t know how similar they are in terms of getting a valuation. However, the 108p figure is ONLY for the gas storage side of the business so at that price, the rest comes free. I’m not going to try to put a figure on the E&P side of Encore so I’ll just say that from this very basic valuation, a demerged Encore could be worth in excess of 108p per share, well over double the current price.
